Weakest of the Bachman books but still a good read.

A short but enjoyable story about a gentle giant named Blaze who got the short end in life and ended up with the wrong friends. I've enjoyed almost everything I've read by King.

This was a long-lost find on the bookshelf that I read in one day by the pool on my honeymoon. It was like "Stealing Arizona" gone bad and without the humor. Good read.

A somber story that touches on many things, but mostly on the injustices of the world.

Bachman in content, King in style, Yet another proof that King can also elicit feelings other than suspense and horror from the reader.

If possible I would actually rate this 7/10. Coming from his early days, Blaze is a reminder of the storytelling King (or Bachman if you prefer) used to deliver, especially when the main character's back story is being told. It's not as good as a novel like Carrie or Salem's Lot but it's worth the read if you, like myself, think King lost something when that van nearly killed him some years ago and want a new novel with all the old King flavor.

Blaze isn't the most profound of Stephen King's books, but it is thoroughly entertaining. I like what King does with the character Blaze. As a reader, I was never sure if I liked him, disliked him, or liked him and felt bad that I like a man that was capable of doing the things he did. That's a credit to a well-crafted story with an engaging lead character. I feel comfortable saying that Blaze is King's third best Bachman book, behind The Long Walk and Running Man.
