If Big Swiss and My Year of Rest and Relaxation had a baby. Big TW for sexual assault.

As a nightshift girly myself, I was intrigued. Also, bisexuality? Sign me up…
Honestly the nightshift elements just annoyed me. I don’t know if I’m just predisposed to nights (never been a morning person - I can do it but I HATE it), but I find it very easy to sleep in the day, and so does everyone else I’ve asked who I work with. Maybe it’s that we do more manual tiring tasks than the characters in this? Or maybe it’s because we don’t do 14 on 14 off(?! insane schedule). Or, it could be the going to the pub until 11am and drinking why youse are always so tired ey

This is a story of a lifetime of obsession. Something that reminds me of a first love and how we lose ourselves and do all we can to keep them with no concern of how we can treat others in the obsessions.

I appreciate that the ending did something different than I was expecting, and had a slightly different perspective than other books of a similar theme that I've read. In general I was bracing myself for a certain type of miserable woman ruining her life in miserable ways from the setup, but I found myself enjoying the situationship-friendship and new life much more than I expected. A slightly rare example of a book with this theme actually being fun and not feeling like a drag the whole time

I kept hoping for this to get good, but ultimately it fell flat. I didn’t feel like the characters were relatable, or even likeable.
