Cute!

Content warnings: sexual harassment, mentions of cancer, panic attack

Now if you’ve followed me for awhile you know I love romance novels, but especially diverse romance novels. So when Hudson dropped me an email pitching me a book with 2 Chinese Canadian characters, one of whom is bisexual? I was so down!

Vivian has been sticking to Asian flight routes since she became a fully fledged flight attendant, but then her dad pushes her to try doing some European routes. Which is where she meets Marco. Marco has been doing the European routes for quite some time, so he shows Vivian around his favourite places on their off days.

On the whole this book was a lot of fun. It was quick read with some loveable characters.

Vivian learns to accept support.  Marco learns that sexism is a part of everyday life for women, and women are strong enough to carry on despite that.

Hunger-making food descriptions.

Clare and Uncle Tom are enjoyable side characters.

If you're looking for the cutest romance ever, pick up this tremendously amazing book by Hudson Lin.

The always fabulous Tamsen Parker introduced me to Hudson Lin, and one thousands thanks for her! Hudson Lin has been a recent favourite of mine so I jumped at the chance to pick up another book by this incredible author.

Fly With Me is an adorable, short novella by Hudson Lin following two flight attendants in Europe. Vivian Ng is a headstrong, feisty lady who can hold up her own. Marco Chang is a sexy, well intended man who forgets he met Vivian years ago. When their lives collide, they collide hard!

I love that this book features diverse characters - Asian-Canadians, a bisexual man, Asians from Peru, just to name a few. This book doesn't force the diversity upon you, it just is. It's natural, which is absolutely lovely. It felt like the world I live in - there are many diverse people all around, and we get to follow the story of two of them.

Vivian being so head strong made me relate to her on a very personal level. She loves her parents, wants to make sure they are taken care of and doesn't want anybody telling her what to do. She butts heads with Marco a fair bit, but they end up building quite the friendship. Add a dash of romance, and this book just screams "BRIAR YOU NEED TO READ THIS".

Overall, I loved this sweet book! It's short enough to binge, lovely enough to fall in love with and fits wonderfully on my always decreasing space on my Kindle (haha...whoops!).

I highly recommend this book if you love short romances, diversity, novels set in Europe, and Canadian stories.

Five out of five stars!

I loved the characters, and the story, and the food. God, the food. I’m hungry now.
It is a short one but it doesn’t feel rushed. The pace is just right. A cute, funny, beautiful story. I just can’t stop grinning. This book is a happiness pill. Yup.

Trigger Warning : One scene of sexual assault. Mentions of death by breast cancer.

Fly With Me is the story of two airline attendants - Vivian & Marco, who meet during a flight when Viv joins Marco's fleet, and fall for each other. It is a short novella at 22,000 words that is a quick and easy read leaving you with a fuzzy feeling.

As far as plots go, there's not much to this story. Just two characters meeting at work and spending time together, and falling in love in the process. But, it is so much fun to read! Also, both the characters are Chinese Canadian and it is an #OwnVoices book in that aspect, so yay!

Viv is a no nonsense, no holds barred woman and I love that about her. She does come off as a little judgmental in the beginning, and she does form opinions quickly, but that doesn't mean she doesn't change her opinion if she finds evidence to the contrary. She isn't perfect, of course, but she is amazing. I like how much she adores her father and how she looks after him. It is so very heartwarming to read. I also love how she isn't afraid to take the lead, be it anywhere. Yes, new situations make her uncomfortable, like they do to most of us, but she doesn't back down and takes charge. It is what I love most about her.

Then, there's Marco. He is such a sweetheart. Warm, funny, chivalrous. This man is all of that and more. I absolutely adored him. He is charming and friendly, and doesn't have any problems in gelling up with new people and making them smile. He is always ready to help someone in need and never makes them feel bad about it. He is out and out bisexual and absolutely does not shy away from the fact that he likes both men and women. I love his honesty and his openness about his sexuality.

The romance between them is so cute. Of course, there is an instant attraction, but neither of them act on it and they become friends before things escalate to more and I like that. They spend some time together, get to know each other a little better before taking it up a notch. Obviously, they have miscommunications along the way, but at the end of the day, they realize how important the other is, and give each other an honest chance, which is important.

Overall, I absolutely enjoyed reading this story and I would definitely recommend it to all you romance fans out there. :D

A quick little novella about romance between two flight attendants. Marcus and Vivian suddenly work on the same flights and they strike up a friendship and then a romance as they explore the cities of Europe.

This book started off strong and then went downhill for me. Vivian and Marcus met and there was immediate friction between them. But they actually talk to each other and get over the misunderstandings that came up at the start of their relationship and things start to progress. Vivian has an elderly father back home and she is struggling with travelling so much for work but she and Marcus are making it work.

There were a couple of issues I have with this book. I found it started to drag a little in the middle when they were falling in love. It was them visiting cities, having dinner, talking about their tourism experiences and sex occasionally. Then there was the big conflict we get before the end of the book and I was just - unsurprised and unimpressed. It had me rolling my eyes. We didn't get enough screen time of Marcus to have it make sense or make us root for them to fix their romantic relationship. I also didn't like how Marcus was the one always in the wrong with their first meeting and their conflict.

This was a quick novella but I think the premise would have suited a longer book much more.

2 stars!

this was super short and sweet, but an absolute delight!
