Loved this book of short stories that were bizarre but heartfelt
dark emotional hopeful mysterious sad medium-paced

Life in itself is such an interesting conversation. When strung with thoughts of how death, life and the process humans make it out to be is something that is man-made instead of natural, you become curious on what possibilities are out there and how differently you can approach each take.

Each short story holds such an interesting take and I cannot help but wish I kept more notes on this book! Perhaps I’ll read this again when I’m older.

Scratched that itch in my brain that wants something simultaneously disgusting and wholesome.

I love her characters because they don’t show any frustration at social norms: they accept that people are different, and exist contentedly and shame-free in their own worlds.

I groan every time I pick up a short story book. I find the good stories too short and the bad ones too long. I think short stories are like comedies - extremely hard to do well. Murata got this one so right! All the stories were weird and creepy and actually very thought provoking. It wasn't just weird and creepy to be weird and creepy, but they all had a deeper point to think through, a question about what is wrong with society today. I thought the book was pretty profound, and I loved it. It's rare for me to find a short story collection where I actually like every single story, and that was the case here.

If you like weird and creepy, whether you like to ponder society or not, this book could be for you!

quite odd, yet entertaining and the stories trigger you think further !
