Thoroughly enjoyed this book! I was right about the big secret, but I did second guess myself a couple times as more info was shared. I’ve read two books by this author now and both were mostly enjoyable but the viewpoint changes super frequently and there’s so many characters that I forget half their names and it takes a minute to understand who I’m reading about.

Shari Lapena is my fav author, but I’m gonna need to watch SpongeBob to get to sleep for a while after that one.

love the way that she writes. Lots of info frequently, lots of twists and very suspenseful. I didn’t look at the content warning for this book and almost wish I had.. the ending was great and I actually correctly guessed the murderer this time (first time in one of her books lol) but man was it dark. If you’re someone who is bothered by sexual harassment etc, maybe think twice about this one. Glad I read it, and it was VERY well done with a cool little snippet after the book about the authors life that pertains to the story but this story has multiple dark themes and is actually pretty gruesome IMO.

A bit more ghosts than talk than I had anticipated but the story had me hooked from the beginning.

A bright, lovable teenage girl has been murdered and in this seemingly innocent small town, no one can believe that one of their own could be responsible. Although it seems like nearly every male character in this book is either a creep, an enabler or just generally a bad person.

The concept was gripping and because everyone seemed like a suspect, I really enjoyed the flip flopping of my own theory vs what the story was portraying.

This was my second Shari Lapena book and compared to An Unwanted Guest this was definitely more engaging.

fast paced, engaging thriller that centers on the murder of a teenage girl, diana, and the subsequent investigation into her death. this story was told from multiple perspectives and there were a variety of potential killers. i have to say, i almost gave this one up because the initial scenes were a bit graphic but it gets wayyy better from there and isn't scary/gruesome at all after that. i am so proud of myself for correctly guessing the murderer, although i do have to say that the last third of the book was ridiculous and not plausible at all. that being said, i did thoroughly enjoy this book!

the audiobook was great and i couldn't stop listening!
