Shari Lapena is my fav author, but I’m gonna need to watch SpongeBob to get to sleep for a while after that one.

love the way that she writes. Lots of info frequently, lots of twists and very suspenseful. I didn’t look at the content warning for this book and almost wish I had.. the ending was great and I actually correctly guessed the murderer this time (first time in one of her books lol) but man was it dark. If you’re someone who is bothered by sexual harassment etc, maybe think twice about this one. Glad I read it, and it was VERY well done with a cool little snippet after the book about the authors life that pertains to the story but this story has multiple dark themes and is actually pretty gruesome IMO.

I usually don't mind a predictable ending as long as the story is decent but it was a little ridiculous that I guessed both the killer and the motive within the first couple of chapters. There were so many POVs that it was hard to track, and the writing lacked any depth whatsoever. Every sentence was "(person) thought about who killed Diana. (person) felt terrible about what happened to Diana. How could something like this happen to such a great person?" Just nonstop telling telling telling. The story was compelling enough but it was a very mid book.

This book made me angry, but not at the author, plot, or writing in general. It made me angry because it was unfortunately pretty realistic. This book is filled with creeps preying on young girls, but only one can be the killer. It also explores how parents and partners inevitably choose protection and defense of their loved ones over wanting justice for victims. The plot was fast-moving and I was hooked from early on trying to figure out who did it. People can be monsters in many different ways.

Didn't wow me but I didn't necessarily hate it. I could tell who the killer was about 1/4 of the way in.

I enjoyed the dead girl ghost aspect. Wish that would've been explored more. I love an Ouija scene!

I thought this was a good story, but it was very repetitive in parts. It was meant to be written in the third person perspective, but then zoomed in on a specific person. I feel like characters were filled out to an extent, but details that would've completed them were missed if that makes sense. I did enjoy the twists that kept you guessing who it was!

I sped through this because I HAD to know. The twist was kind of predictable but mostly because I’ve read most of her books so it’s pretty common for someone unsuspecting to be the killer/bad guy but I was thinking it was a different person mostly because the others were too obvious. It’s too difficult to say much more but it was pretty good! I liked the ghost Diana aspect, that was new!
