Feeling a bit abashed for my slightly flippant review of the first book which I genuinely enjoyed. This second book in the series takes a darker turn in a very Empire Strikes back sort of way.
I am always impressed with a book that can bring tears and laughter in equal measure. Alexis Hall has a gift for wringing emotions out of the reader.
I want to elaborate more, but I really don't want to ruin this book for anyone. I started listening to the third book immediately after finishing this one.

as someone who is not into bdsm, all ask is for authors to convince me the characters are into it. arden is v much into it. i think that part was done well.
this was an interesting read. we finally got some answers from caspian as to why he is the way he is. the man needs therapy with a good therapist. arden is a mess as most twenty one year olds tend to be. he very sweet and i want better for him. caspian is not a good choice imo.
i’ll have to see how the author convinces me otherwise with the next book.

Arden has cemented his place in my heart. He´s such a caring, cheerful, patient, and lovable guy - I just want him to be happy. And then there´s Caspian... Listen, I also want Caspian to be happy, but dear lord, my dude, help me help you. The romance improved, yes, but the title should´ve been a giveaway of what was about to happen... I just didn´t know the scale of the "blow it" part. It´s been a while since I connected this much to a story, so yes, this is now personal, Mr. Hart.
I feel so bad for both of them, honestly, Alexis Hall kept jabbing on my wounds. I´m not sure how they´re going to come back after that, and I have to mentally prepare myself for it.

3.5? Again, more giggling than one might expect. Sort of not here for Caspian but I am here for Bellerose and he has like three lines.

Loved it more than the first novel. Don’t get misdirected by the simplicity of the title, this novel is beautifully written with incredible insights into the characters. If you liked other novel by Alexis Hall, especially the earlier ones, you will like this one too. This is not a standalone and should be read with part one and part three. Plentiful and beautiful sex scenes.
