I really enjoyed this fantasy romance set almost entirely in a cabin on a snow covered mountain. Don't get me wrong, I love me some vampire warriors and alpha male shifters but this was a nice break from all that. I hesitate to use the word sweet because there was certainly a fair amount of sex but the emotions were sweet, and in some cases bittersweet. I felt for each of these characters and the romance between widow Megan and snow god Owen, who her tears bring to life, felt very real despite the paranormal/fantasy elements. I liked that the fantasy elements didn't overwhelm the romance or the characters. There's a certain amount of magic (Owen owns his existence to it) but it is set very much in the contemporary world. More than magic or woldbuilding it's a story of learning to love again after having love taken from you by a tragic accident. If in retrospect it all happens a little fast, and if Megan believes a little bit too quickly, for me it all worked as part of the fantasy. It was a like a lovely little snowglobe of a story. It made me wish we had snow on the ground, which is an odd wish for me who's usually complaining about it. Beyond Megan and Owen's romance I also liked the mythos of the other gods that the author created and I'll be looking for book 2 when it's out.

It's was surprisingly good. I love the mythological ties and it was a beautiful romance where you could help but root for the couple.

Absolutely loved this book! I couldn't put it down and read it in one sitting. Megan and Owen were believable and well written. Gave me all the feels. This is definitely going to be added to my 'will re-read many times' list!

"3.5 out of 5 stars! After just reading a few chapters of "North of Need" it reminded me of the movie Jack Frost, even though this book has a different story line, I think it was the whole snowman-coming-to-life thing that made me think it. Anyway ...
This is a wonderful book!! Also..."
