Ethan is stuck in Iowa and Jack is back in DC. One might ask, how are they ever going to make it? Well, they do, by being the best couple in existence!

2021 re-read: This is still my favorite of the series by far. The plot is much more grounded, so we just get to bask in the relationship moments while these two figure things out. And I love them so much!!! They give me all the feels, and that's just all there is to it :)

I really enjoyed this look at President Jack and Agent Ethan, trying to make a long-distance relationship work. A few details tweaked me as slightly unlikely, but it was sweet and fun, with a bit of tension, and two excellent characters. The complication of Ethan's public history, and its impact on his effectiveness (and safety), seemed to suggest he should have been given a different job from the start. But his interactions with his boss, coworkers, and other secondary characters added a lot to the story.

Very much a middle book with a lot of filler. I skimmed a lot of sticky-sweetness and unnecessary imaginary world politics. But you gotta read it if you're hooked on this story.
BTW I highly recommend Adam Fitzroy's Dear Mister President for another (arguably more satisfying) take on this trope. I've read it twice.

I LOVED reading about Ethan and Jack again! Since it's been a few months since I finished the main series, I just loved seeing these two again, how much they love and care for each other. I loved seeing how they dealt with their long-distance relationship, how it was wearing them both down and how happy they were when they saw each other. There were just so many scenes that warmed my heart. For some reason I looooved the teddy bear Ethan gave to Jack and how he told the teddy to watch out for him!!
If you've read the Executive Office series, you should definitely read this!!
