What can I say about the Shopaholic series, FANTASTIC! Really good buy, could not put down for a second! I was even sad when they cam to an end, until I heard there was to be a Mini Shopaholic, which I have also read! They're that good I think Sophie should write another sequel ha ha

What can I say? Sophie Kinsella books are my guilty pleasure. I'm not going to fool myself into thinking there's any deep meaning here (I suppose we could call it a look at excessive consumerism?), but for sheer fun and a light read, these fit the bill. I giggle my way through every one, knowing that of COURSE she will get out of whatever tight spot she's in, but totally enjoying the ride.

I read the first 2 and the 2 books were quite annoying due to the main character.

One heck of a book...everything is so funny. Becky is the most hilarious crazy heroine i have ever met!

I needed a comfort read the way you can need comfort food (actually I needed a comfort read AND comfort food, but I digress) so I decided to go backwards and pick one of the Shopaholic books I hadn't read yet.

Reading them out of order made me realize how terribly formulaic those books are: Becky overspends, Becky does something stupid, Becky hides that stupid action from Luke, Luke finds out, Becky promises to change for the better. The end.

But I don't care because I still like Sophie Kinsella's writing, she's fun, Becky is fun even when she is pathetic and it cheered me up the way I wanted it to do.

You need to read those for what they are, pure fluff with no hidden depth, and then you can totally enjoy them (if it's your cup of tea, of course).

I picked this book up because I'd heard a lot about it, I wasn't sure if I'd like it though. But I did! It's well written and easy to read. I'm not very much into clothes shopping like Becky (the main character) is, but this didn't bother me so much. Becky (the main character) can be a little annoying sometimes, when you see her shopping going a bit far, but she's mostly very funny, bringing herself into situations that it's hard to see a way out of. It's a very entertaining book, I really enjoyed it.
