I honestly don't know how Munro manages to pack so much... everything...into such short narratives.
This woman is brilliant.

I love the way she writes. The way she describes feelings, thoughts and people. She hits the emotional parts of everyday living and sprinkles in some sad or extraordinary outcomes.

Munro's story collections are always a reminder that great writing can be done while returning obsessively to certain themes over and over. Almost all of the stories in this book turn on issues of aging, deterioration, and fidelity. Her depiction of marriage is clear-eyed almost to the point of brutality, but always backs off from cruelty just enough to stay humane. These stories offer little in the way of sentimental comfort ("Comfort" and "The Bear Came Over the Mountain" broke me in two), but have a sort of faint luminosity to them, a cold comfort that illuminates rather than warms. Beautiful and painful stories.

As the title implies, these are all stories that focus on relationships. But generally not the healthiest of relationships. So even though I was drawn into each of the stories, they left me feeling somewhat pessimistic about the human condition.

I think it is time for me to admit I am not a 'short story' girl.

Munro is a master of the short story. "The Bear Came Over the Mountain" is unforgettable.

I never felt like I could get anywhere near Munro's characters. Occasionally, there would be a glimmer of an emotional response, a revelation from the characters' minds, but overall I found it very hard to get through these not-so-short stories.

Super easy to read, the stories are well written but to be honest not that interesting.
While they talk about ordinary people with ordinary lives like all of us, it lacked something, I hardly found a character that I could relate to.
I honestly don't understand why she won the Nobel Prize.
