I thought this was a shocker - you'd only read it if you had nothing else.

I had a difficult time getting into this mystery. The writing was fine, the setting exotic and lush, the characters... well, that's where I hit the snag. It was impossible to really care about any of them, worth yet try to relate to the them in any meaningful way. Seriously, she and her family owned the island that they are living on?! The celebrity name dropping was painful and her "lady bountiful" vibe seemed to give the impression that everyone on the island were her serfs / servants.

Not a bad story, well written even. I just hated the characters which took away from my enjoyment.

The descriptions of Mustique are quite lovely, and it's interesting to get a view of place that is normally private.

The mystery is average; the book's chief attribute is that the author was a close friend of Princess Margaret and sprinkles tidbits about their friendship.

ça aurait pu être un 3/5 si les motivations du tueur (expliquées en 2 lignes) n'avaient pas été aussi décevantes (elles sont inexistantes)

Oh dear. I’m afraid this just isn’t a very good book. I’m disappointed because I really enjoyed the author’s autobiography, but this is just not up to the same standard.

The main character is a thinly veiled fictionalised version of Lady Glenconner herself - which will be obvious to anyone who has read her autobiography - which just makes for slightly strange reading. It’s immediately obvious who the murderer is from the first couple of chapters and the constant name dropping is just really grating.

Such a shame.

It was a fun read. But otherwise predictable. But at some points it does keep you glued to the book. It’s lighthearted in a way even tho there is so much violence.

I loved this! It was like listening to the exploits of Lady Anne herself!
