Sweet summer romance between a girl who is convinced that she's meant/doomed to be the sidekick in someone else's movie, and the coworker she has to compete with for a job. Lots of predictability, but that's why I picked up a romance to read: for the crush, the first date, the overblown misunderstanding quickly followed by a happy ending. I wanted a book with a happy ending. Bonus that this wasn’t a coming out book, and only one parent of four seemed to have even the slightest reservations about their daughter being queer. I call it a win.

The perfect summer read!

I loved this book! Abby is a 17 year old girl who gets the internship she wanted between her junior and senior years at the clothing store of her dreams. Little does she know, there are two interns this summer. This was such a fun, good, innocent teen crush, teen summer story. A quick and easy read. Plus I loved the character Jax who she eats burgers with all summer! Great book!

This was the kind of book I desperately needed when I was a teenager, but I'm so happy these kind of books exist for teenagers (and adult readers too) now.

The protagonist is a fat, fashionable lesbian. These things are important, especially because there is no diet or weight loss narrative, she's openly and unapologetically gay, and she still gets to care about and wear cute clothing. She's also weird and neurotic and funny in ways that feel relatable and true.

There's a lot of emotional truth in this book.

Also, the supporting characters - Jordi (the love interest who happens to be Mexican-American), Maliah (the wealthy, black daughter of two hot, black doctors and the one who starts and ends the book in a happy relationship), and Jax (the so-called douchey rich kid, who is actually a pretty cool guy) are a lot of fun, while also seeming like real people.

The book is not just about first love, but also platonic love and familial love, and how we grow and change and adapt around all of these kinds of love.

The book skews young. It's YA, so it's supposed to, and even though I'm not the target audience, I really enjoyed this and would certainly add it to a school library. If I were 17 when I read this, it probably would have been one of my favorite books. Highly recommended.

This was recommended to me because I loved What If It’s Us so much, and I loved Jordi Perez even more! The story was very interesting and unique - a girl with a fashion blog and a photographer are sharing an internship at a local fashion boutique. Everything was pretty happy, even when there were problems, so I’d say it’s more of a fluff read, but it’s so easy to get into. I thought the stuff with the sister could have been developed a bit more, and the ending felt pretty rushed, but I enjoyed it.
