Aven was born without arms, but that doesn’t stop her from being her funny, amazing self! A great story about diverse characters, the friendship they share and the mystery they aim to solve.

Beautiful story about a girl with a never-quit attitude. Originally meant to read this with my kids but ended up reading it alone. It held my attention and kept me wanting more. The audio was beautiful.

'Insignificant Events in the Life of a Cactus' will leave your heart open to all things you might think impossible. You'll quickly become friends with Aven as she navigates the horrors of being the new kid in Middle School, solves a mystery at the theme park her parents manage, and reveals that our disabilities don't define us.

Aven Greene was born without arms, even if she likes to tell people different stories about how the event occurred. Though the fact that she was born without arms hasn't stopped her from living her life, she plays guitar, soccer, can eat and get dressed all on her own. Life is pretty good, until her parents take a job running Stagecoach Pass a Western Theme Park in Arizona, a far cry from where she grew up in Kansas. Now Aven has to adjust to going to a new school, making new friends, and figuring out the secret of the park. With the help of her new friend Connor who has his own struggles in the form of Tourette's syndrome, and Zion Aven might just be okay.
I adored this book. Aven was a lovable main character, with a witty personality. The display of kids who are differently-able, and the topic of adoption were all handled so well. It was well written and just such a fun read. 10/10 would recommend.

YES PLEASE! I haven’t read a book like this in so long. It was amazing and full of that sort of “if I put this down I will never be able to live with myself” kinda vibe. It was an easy read, and literally had the best characters and plot. It feels like a spin off of ‘Wonder’ but instead of the bullying being directed at them and the characters just letting it happen, they’re taking control and actually doing something with their lives. Very uplifting, deserves like, 15 stars.
