I loved The Kingdom of The Wicked series so was super excited when I found out Wrath’s brothers were getting their own books. And despite it taking a while for me to finally pick up (my tbr is a bit out of control) it surpassed all my expectations!

Deliciously seductive and fabulously intense, with plenty of intrigue to keep me hooked, Camilla and Envy and their chemistry laden dynamics were phenomenal! Can’t wait to read Gluttony’s book. Though do check the TWs cause it does get a little dark at times.

I wavered between liking and being utterly bored by this book. It’s not badly written at all, but I do feel like there were about 5 subplots and quite a few chapters that could have been taken out without losing anything. And despite the plot dragging for hundreds of pages, it still managed to feel super rushed in the end.
All the revelations unfolded in the last 50 pages or so, the characters speed-ran through a break-up-then-make-up scenario without actually talking about what happened, and all the tension and loose ends just kinda magically fixed themselves and/or went unresolved
. I’m also definitely missing some context, having not read the author’s earlier series set in this universe (honestly I didn’t even realize this book was part of an established universe until about halfway through), but I don’t think this alone was enough to lessen my capacity to understand and enjoy this book. I simply didn’t enjoy it as much as I would’ve liked.

I absolutely LOVED this book. Envy and Camilla stole my heart. They are one of the best couples I've encountered in quite some time, both as individuals and together.

The plot of this novel is so well done. All of it is magnificent: the game as a throughline, the puzzles and riddles, the intricate web of characters involved. It kept me hooked and guessing, up until the very end of the game.

Maniscalco's world-building is incredible. There are fae, demons, vampires, and humans. Although this novel is an adult spinoff of a YA series, you don't need to be familiar with the Kingdom of the Wicked to dive into this novel.

In addition to all of the above, this slow burn romance is a spicy one. I truly felt like this book had everything: mystery, intrigue, escapism, strong characters, and romance with some serious fireworks. And all of it was well-written and well-plotted.

This book is not for everyone, but if the above sounds like your jam, don't sleep on this series. If you need to escape the human world for a few hundred pages or so - and honestly, who doesn't? - this might be the one to help you do just that.

I am headed directly to the second book in the series, Throne of Secrets, which just came out a few weeks ago and I definitely impulse purchased before I finished reading this one. No regrets.
