It was hard to get into at first, but as the story went on it got more and more interesting. It was full of twists and turns and i really enjoyed that we truly did not know the FMC till the last 120ish pages, so the suspense and mystery was there till the final reveal which was great.

I don’t mind explicit content, but this book took it to an extreme. It felt like that was the whole point of the book. Sex was driving the characters more than I normally enjoy in a book. It was a fun mix of Bridgerton/high society and fantasy but I just don’t think it was super well written.

yes, yes, and yes. i loved the setting of this book, it was giving very much regency era and i just adore that. it had a great plot while also giving you some pretty satisfying spice. the only reason it’s not 5 stars is because i wish both the magic and the battle scenes were a tad more epic in scope. i also wish there was a bigger “plot twist” because i figured it out before the big reveal so it wasn’t as jaw-dropping as i would have wanted. but besides that, it was great! i would be quite interested in picking up the second book in this series of standalone novels.

This author has always been a hit or miss for me, but I always keep coming back to her because I find her characters are so addicting. And this one is no exception.

Although this book is connected to her YA series (which it shouldn’t be) Kingdom of the Wicked, I remembered little to nothing about that trilogy, and I was completely fine reading this one. I’m really glad she has moved this series into the adult section because that’s exactly what she needed.

I loved the main character, characters, Camilla and Envy. Their individual characters are so intriguing and their chemistry is absolute molten fire. I could feel the vibrations of their lust and desire through the pages. The smut scenes were deliciously enjoyable, but also I like that. It was a slow buildup throughout the book. Especially because the book is over 500 pages. Speaking of, I think it could have been cut a little bit because there were some scenes or moments that I found were not necessarily needed.

Regardless, I absolutely devoured and enjoyed this book and it was a great book to end 2024 with.
