I did really enjoy this book. Basically everything I loved from the Kingdom of the Wicked trilogy was also present here, just really different. This world is still so incredibly interesting to me, and I loved getting to be in it for another book. Especially because in this book we explore different aspects to the world. Especially the vampire and fae focus in this book was incredibly interesting to me.
I also just love Envy. I already loved him in the trilogy (by the way, you could totally read this as a standalone, you'd just miss some worldbuilding) so I was excited for his own book, and it did not disappoint. He's just a really interesting character, and I really loved his developement throughout this book. Camilla was a great complimentary character to him as well. I also thought she was very interesting, and again she had great developement throughout the novel. I liked that she didn't let herself be intimidated by Envy, and overall just stood her own really well. The dynamic between Camilla and Envy was also just incredible. They had great banter, and I loved seeing their relationship grow. I do have to say that the romance was a bit too lust based for me personally, and I wanted more from their emotional connection to fully love it, but I did still really like it.
The plot was also just great. I really liked the game aspect. I thought it was a great way to frame the story, and I also loved trying to figure out some the clues myself. I do think it times certain conflicts were resolved a bit too quickly, and therefore it could feel like the stakes were missing at times. However, it did have some incredible twists and turns I did not see coming, and truly had me GAGGED. Both Envy and Camilla also have a big secret, and I kind of wish they were revealed to us the read a little bit earlier. I just feel like it is crucial info to understand our main character's motivations, and although I do have to say I did like the scenes were they were revealed to each other. However, I just think that for the reader it just happens so late in the book that it can feel a bit difficult to fully get invested in it. However, I did still really enjoy this novel, and I did still read it quite quickly. Ultimately I'm also just super excited to continue on with the series, and see the different stories from the different brothers.

I don’t mind explicit content, but this book took it to an extreme. It felt like that was the whole point of the book. Sex was driving the characters more than I normally enjoy in a book. It was a fun mix of Bridgerton/high society and fantasy but I just don’t think it was super well written.

This is a call out to BARNES AND NOBLE. Why was this book in the YA section?!?!? No tweenagers need to be gifted this book by their grandmas. Anywho, if you've read ACOTAR and liked it, you'd probably like this.
Warning for the word sin. I get it you are the personification of one of the seven deadly sins, but I don't need to hear about it all the time. Also if you're not into books where characters talk about their primal and natural instincts (i very much AM not). Also there is assault in this book which gets glossed over because THE MAN saves her. He is an alpha male, it is his entire peronality. But anywhoo it's ridiculous in a funny way. Enjoy!

I want to note that this book is ADULT and SMUTTY. I first entered this world with the Kingdom of the Wicked series which is definitely more YA. I loved that story and that world so much that I was beyond excited when I saw this book was coming out. I didn’t however plan for the amount of sexual content that came with this book. I am a fantasy reader, not really one for romance and definitely not one for smut. The underlying story and character is what kept me reading even though the sexual parts were quite cringe. I loved the connections that were built, loved the reconnecting presence of the princes of hell, as well as the supernatural aspects of werewolves, vampires, and fae. I think I would’ve liked it more without the smut just because that’s not my cup of tea. I loved the general back story, loved the view we get of hell. I even loved the connection we get to see between the town that Camilla is from and how it is influenced by the introduction to the princes of hell, their sins, and the things that move in the dark. I think that the storyline held true to what we expect when it comes to these women being in close contact with sin. Camilla was a strong female lead and definitely held her own against Envy.
The game they were playing throughout the book kept the book flowing. The secrets that both Envy and Camilla kept from each other, helped to give them layers and he me falling in love with their characters the further we reached into their lives. At times both of them definitely got on my nerves, but why strong willed person doesn’t. You get insight into both Camilla and Envy’s mind as they try to save Envy’s realm.
After finishing the Kingdom of the Wicked series, all I wanted was more insight into the world that was built and the sinful princes of hell. This book definitely delivered on that and I’m excited to see what story we get next about these brothers.
The previous series isn’t MANDATORY to read but to get full understanding and comprehension I definitely recommend it.
If you enjoy the dark things of the supernatural, powers, sin, with some dark twists and turns then I think this will be a good book for you. If you enjoy smut this will be more up your alley but even if not and you enjoy all other parts, maybe still give this a try or check out the previous series. I will definitely continue to follow the princes throughout their individual stories and can’t wait to see what darkness they bring in next.
