It was hard to get into at first, but as the story went on it got more and more interesting. It was full of twists and turns and i really enjoyed that we truly did not know the FMC till the last 120ish pages, so the suspense and mystery was there till the final reveal which was great.

I really enjoyed this book a lot! Envy was the most intriguing of the princes from Kingdom of the Wicked for me, and I really loved his characterization. He's so kind and also so hurt and defensive and sneaky about his kindness. I liked that we got to see from his point of view, and I loved his development throughout the novel. I'm very excited to read the next one; I hope all of them make me love the princes as much as this one made me love Envy.

4⭐️/5🌶️
This is definitely a SPICY book, not just a book with some spice mmmkay 🫣 I love a slow burn and enemies to lovers, so the slow tension and the pov swaps were well done and the tension lasted long enough to make the spice feel un-forced (although there are also some spicy scenes described that are not between the main characters, so fair warning those snuck up on me unexpectedly). I haven’t read the previous books by this author but after finishing this one, I definitely want to! I want to read a book for every one of the seven brothers so I’m hoping she does quite a few of them at least because this was such an interesting read! I found the character development entertaining, the bad guys were truly awful and the enemies to lovers had great banter and tension. Really enjoyable read! My only complaints would be that I saw a few of the major plot twists kind of coming, so while I was excited about them I wasn’t SHOCKED, and it was a tad spicier than I’m usually comfortable with with the background scenes that were described (vampire dinner party I’m looking at you). I’ll definitely read the sequel though!

The book is... fine, I guess. The plot of riddles in a high-stakes game is intriquing, especially when it involves reluctant allies each withholding their own secrets but still slowly warming up to each other. However, the plot gets put on the back burner very often in favor for emphasizing the main characters constantly lusting over each other.

This makes the smut feel so mundane it becomes a boring diversion from the actual plot and meaningful interactions between the main characters. If the smut was rarer in the book, it would feel more meaningful and make the story more balanced.

For added shock-value, there is meaningless violence, torture, and other possibly triggering events to cause diversion for the MCs from the main game in the plot. This dampened my enjoyment of the book.

If you are looking for a book with a nice premise for plot, interesting characters, but main focus on smut, you'll find a great match here.
