Nog twee keer lezen denk ik.

I have understood about 5% of this and retained 1, if that.
No rating because how do you even rate this.
It's certainly not beginner friendly.

Old review:
" Interesting but tough read. Enjoyed the conceptualisation of labor, work and action. The politics and freedom and freedom to be free were a bit more abstract, but also relevant today. "

New review:
Reread it a few days after, since I felt I had not properly understood everything.

Definitely worthwhile read. The conceptualisation of freedom into politics and the interwovenness of freedom and politics, the striking contrast between the freedom of the American Revolution, where "les malhoreux" were not represented, as slavery was not fought against, and the freedom internalised in the French Revolution, where "le peuple" were the driving force, the uncontrollable current, where the American Revolution created a freedom from fear for the non "wretched of the earth", and the current of French Revolution brought them to the fight for the freedom from not just fear but also from want, for the people.

Among other interesting insights.

Big detour from the previously conceptualised freedom, but very enjoyable and enlightening.

Recommended read.

"Whatever the French Revolution did and did not achieve - and it did not achieve human equality - it liberated the poor from obscurity, from nonvisibility. "

Very important essays to better understand the current state of the world and guard ourselves against the deterioration of our freedom. The last essay is very strong.
However the writing is overly complicated which overshadows the point Hannah Arendt is trying to make quite often

Interessante essay, niet veel nieuwe informatie voor mij maar wel een andere zienswijze, zeker omdat het ten tijde van een totaal andere geopolitieke context is geschreven.
