Stunning true story! I would never have expected such good writing, so that is a big bonus as well.

I started the book enjoying the mafia life. Soon it turned out to be a rant on how awesome the writer is even though its a biography and supposed to talk about his life as a mobster which didnt actually have anything to do with illegal activities. He was always ahead of things, always present and always knew what to do, even though he was a teenager or child. Seems fake, seems a personal rant of awesomeness and doesnt reveal anything else. 2/5, one extra star because the writing wasnt as bad as his life's story..

father son ties
I could have said Parent Child Ties. We all start off believing we are the “ product” of our parents. But, at sun ( pun intended) point we need to acknowledge we are a prime number. 1x me = me.

This book was well written and shared an intriguing perspective of life inside the mafia. The complexities of humanity, relationships, and the effects of trauma were interesting perspectives that were highlighted throughout the book. Much respect to Albert Demeo for sharing his story.

This was a very interesting book. I enjoy reading books from children of those involved in the mob, and this book showed what a glaring difference there was in the interactions between Roy and his daughters and Roy and his son. A lot of people, including those in law enforcement, fail to think about children as individuals and assume that they must be party to everything their parents do. While Albert was certainly more inclined in that direction, his sisters were not. This was a really good read.

I really enjoyed this book. I am very into crime shows and movies, and in those series you usually see it from the police or the criminals point of view. It was interesting to read about the point of view from the family side. I personally never thought of how the family of a criminals life could be impacted as well as when I usually think of the mob I always thought of a whole family being involved so it took me by surprise reading that the sisters and mother were left in the dark. Albert did an amazing job at captivating his readers off the first page. It is crazy to think that all of this was true. It was cool to read because for once I actually hoped that the criminal(Roy) would get away and be able to live a happy life with his family. The way Albert wrote this book it had me rooting for Roy the whole time. Albert was a very interesting person to read about. I really liked reading about his struggle with finding out whats right from wrong. Albert was a very troubled teen especially after a certain event in the book. The audience got to see him throughout the book debating between making his dad and the uncles happy or doing the right thing. I think that Albert was lost and very confused for a very long time and it took until he checked himself into rehab for him to get better and to create an identity for himself. It was interesting to see not only the ups and downs of Roy's crime life, but also seeing the ups and downs in Alberts life. Albert lived a life that was very abnormal but he came out decent in the end.
