The dialogue felt stilted. The story jumped around a bit too much and didn't develop the characters that well and the big stuff got pretty well brushed aside and treated as little stuff.

While I enjoy a good mystery and am intrigued by the angle a daughter of a former President can offer on the inner workings of Washington DC, I found this book, by far, the weakest I've read in this series of stand-alones. There were a hefty ton of characters of which to keep track. The book kept shooting off in directions that were unexpected in such a way that they felt jarring. There weren't really any likable characters. And, dear Lord, the failure to properly proofread before publishing. Still, the book moved along at a decent clip. I never would have guessed the culprit, and I kept expecting one character as being involved, though, ultimately, they were not. There were also too many loose ends left dangling and a fairly unsatisfying ending. Overall, it isn't a book I had to abandon and it was mildly entertaining, but I doubt I'd recommend it to a friend and I definitely wouldn't be compelled to ever pick it up again.
