This was my first Folio Society book, and it's a gorgeous treasure trove of beautiful illustrations and stories. My favourite was, as always, Sleeping Beauty, but there was a wonderful new-to-me take on Cinderella, too!

A fantastic collection of Perrault's fairytales.

3.5 - a beautiful book of classic fairy tales, just not ones that have aged very well (especially the lesser known stories...)

I was convinced I'd never read this before, but when I started going through it I found these versions of the tales more familiar than any other. I know I've read a lot of fairy tale collections, and seen these stories in so many guises that no fairy tale ever feels new to me, but it was odd how familiar these version felt.
The illustrations in this edition made the reading experience for me, since that was the element that was new and exciting in reading this.

I just adore this book. So many great stories. This contains my favorite version of Beauty and the Beast.
