This was damn near a DNF. However, it being less than 300 pages, I stuck it out.
Tony really rubbed me the wrong way in every way. Firstly, he's evidently been in love with Luna since she was thirteen... which wouldn't be all that bad except for the fact that he was seventeen at the time. And by the time she makes her first move on him, she's seventeen, and he's twenty-two, and he literally tells her to just wait three months until she's legal. Of course, she doesn't hear that part, which leads to a DECADE of miscommunication.
There's also the fact that Tony was very aggressive. And I love myself a morally grey hero, but this man was screaming at Luna every chance he got, and I very much disliked how often this man threw the "f" word around. It's a great word... when appropriate. It doesn't need to he used seven times in one paragraph.
That's not to say Luna didn't also drive me crazy. The girl is overwhelmed by being protected but is literally being stalked. I don't know about you, but I'd rather be smothered by the people I love than kidnapped and killed 🤷‍♀️
The book gets two stars because I finished it, and I guess there were some sweet and romantic parts, but so far, this series isn't doing anything for me.

This is so strange. I get the feeling that this used to be a book about police officers, but they used a program to remove the words “police” and “officer” and changed it to private detective, without actually changing any other part of the story, including the red and blue flashing lights on the car... And neither scenario works. If they’re private detectives, not once does anyone ever talk to the police, who are the ones who would need the info to eventually have the stalker charged. And how would a private detective agency financially survive in a small town? If they’re police, they never learned procedures like not fucking up a crime scene.
Tony victim blaming the shit out of Luna in the beginning pissed me off. Not sure he ever redeemed himself there.
Also, hire an editor. Sooo many grammar issues, and sometimes popular sayings are used in a way that tells us that the author doesn’t actually know what they mean.

Is there a lot of “me tough man, you weak woman”? Absolutely, that’s kind of the premise of the book. However, it’s a book and not real life so the feminism leaves my body when I read characters like this.
I know the author updated this from Tony being a police officer to private security but there were still some parts that seemed to have been missed. Didn’t impact anything overall, just made me reread a couple parts, but I moved on and forgot about it pretty quickly.

Luna on the other hand felt incredibly relatable, I can’t imagine a more insecure strong willed girl than Luna.
I did catch the plot twist before it happened, it went from being slightly mysterious to blatantly obvious in a heartbeat. But in the end I still enjoyed the book. I’m glad we still get to see the MCs from other books & and it was fun to see how some of their stories were set up / played out.
Now on to the 3rd book!
