this book ripped my flipping heart OUT! Gosh grief is such a difficult and painful thing to experience let alone to just read about and Sarah Everett, you explained and wrote about it so beautifully in this book. A fantastic book from beginning to the end and I can’t wait to read more of your work!

i came into this wanting a Fast. Lighthearted. Quick. Read.
it would have 4 stars had i been mentally ready for how heavy some of the topics are. bcos i feel the author has an amazing ability to write emotions convincingly and i liked how realistic the characters were. the way the mc was accountable for her mistakes was good as well
in terms of romance idk man i feel it was neccessary for the plot but i wasnt relly rooting for the couple
i liked the mc's best friend willow a lot though. shes sweet and cool and doesnt put up with the mc's pushing her away (you go girl)
3.5!

Oh my. This book is a beauty. It’s just so sad and so sweet and so achingly lovely. I adore sibling stories and this was no exception. There are so many things I could say about this lovely lovely book, but my heart is too full.
Not many young adult books deal with the topic of grief. This one does and it does it well.
This book hurt in the best way possible. I love messy relationships and this book was just so full of them. The back and forth timeline worked extremely well because it kept me hooked on the storylines. I needed to know what happened in one section then something else would happen in the other and I just couldn't put this book down. The conclusion is slightly open ended but I'm very hopeful for these kids.
Found family is the best story trope. And I absolutely loved Ernie- he’s my favorite. I’m sort of in between whether or not I liked the back and forth between Then and Now. I wanted the answers sooner than they were presented, which I guess speaks to the story’s compelling-ness. The ending was realistic but sort of frustrating.
Can't vibe with the plot at all since the first page I read. Another book that doesn't suit my taste, indeed. Too bad.
