read this for my politics and religion in the modern world class. This book could have been summarised in 50 pages! interesting, but I think it's really targeted towards US-based scholars, nevertheless I think this has transformed the way that I will read and perceive texts and news related to so-called religious violence. Most interesting point was this idea that religion as we think we know it is a concept created in the West and disseminated through colonialism which has majorly disrupted the order of things in these societies and has an effect to this day.
