I loved reading a book set in my hometown, but 100 years in the past. Good imagery, character development, and unpredictable twists. I wish it hadn’t lulled in the middle but the resolution was strong, and I’m excited for what the next book might entail.

I loved the first entry into this series, but this one fell a little flat for me. Kaveri and Ramu are still a compelling couple, but I struggled with the dialogue. It was very forced and clunky, and in some parts felt totally divorced from the character who was speaking. Instead of it reading as natural conversation between two or more characters, the dialogue instead felt like a direct vehicle for the author to move the story forward and give the reader the information they needed. It ended up feeling like the author was telling me the story, rather than the characters showing me the story. Still, if there is a third book I will still pick it up based off of the strength of the first one.

These are such fun mysterious. I love the setting and the people. These audio books are so well done. The two main characters are just the sweetest! Definitely a fun lighthearted mystery series so far.

i do like kaveri and ramu better in this one but also kaveri and ramu are too good to be true, so it is at some points like reading a fairy tale - where the one you root for is just so perfect.

The first book in this series was fun but very predictable. This was a big improvement. The characters are more fleshed out, have more purpose and there are more historical details and plot points. I’ve become very fond of this place and it’s inhabitants. Looking forward to this series continuing.
