I almost wanted to give this book 3 stars just because the last 10 pages or so we're finally interesting. But the lack of character development through the first 180 pages and the info dumps I was subject to were just too much. Maybe I'll read the next one but only if none of the other books I want to read are available.

In the future, the US has taken away citizen's rights and built a force field to keep other countries and their bombs out. Many Americans were left outside of the wall when it was built. Rachel, who lives inside of the force field has been asked to help others on the outside. Will she?

This book is a typical dystopian novel, but doesn't become interesting until the last three chapters. Good thing there are other books, but I don't think I am going to keep reading. The first novel was pretty dry. I do have high hopes for the others (just not enough to make me want to actually read them).

The premise of this one is amazing. I personally didn't like the REALLY slow start and cliffhanger. This one was published in 2010 when the classic move was to take one book and stretch it across three books and call it a sequel. There's no resolution, the worldbuilding could have been much better revealed, and the action needed to be introduced about 75 pages sooner.

I think I would have liked it even more if there had been more interaction between Pathik and Rachel. And it kind of just ended abruptly, so I am looking forward to the sequel.

Didn't know what to expect with this book, but I was pleasantly surprised. This is a fast read and I am looking forward to the next one in the series.

I loved this - a solid 3 1/2 stars minimum! The characters were pretty interesting although I think there is more to learn there. The story had several twists and turns that I did not expect which is actually very surprising for this type of book. Hopefully, I will get to read the rest of the series!

Overall this was a good book. It had an interesting plot line and backstory, the characters were good and I think that this book did what it set out to do. That being said, it was nothing special.

There was a lot of telling rather than showing. The plot moved very slowly and the characters didn’t seem fully fleshed out. The world building was quite interesting though, and there’s potential for the story

I didn't hate this book but it was not the most engaging read. It moved very slowly but finally picked up in the last several pages.
