Well this is the end (For the first Tokyo Ghoul series, there's another after this) but man oh man, this ended way more depressing than I thought it would (and way way different than the Anime series).

Okay so Ken has entered the fight. This is pretty much the Doves verse all the Ghouls we love but in a very bloody fashion. There's no "saving the last minute" or "We'll be okay" no it's a lot of you're dead, rip out your eyes, and getting murdered in fucked up ways. It's almost sad reading it, you can feel the emotions of these characters as they watched loved ones die. Then the end...wtf?

Good: Loved the death of so many characters. They don't feel plot protected. I also enjoyed Kankei's emotional roller-coaster here and his ups and downs. The end result of this volume gives you so chill vibes, the darkness, and the loss of war.

Bad: It gets a bit confusing who's talking and sometimes a bit too many characters on one page to tell who is who at times.

Overall a great, and very dark, way of closing the first half of the series. Now to charter completely unknown territory.

WHAT????

I don't know how I feel about the ending, that epilogue really threw me off.
Epilogue aside, it really was a tragic, gory, bloody manga.
The last volume had too many reveals and surprises, too much for one single volume.
I'm starting right away with the sequel, but I have a feeling it will be focused on the CCG, and I'm not a fan of their dynamics.

Kaneki and his story arc and how his mottot of "protecting everyone" really came full circle, when he starts remembring his mother. Kishou Arima doesn't seem like the straightforward CCG hero he poses to be. There are some characters whose fate is still uncertain to me, did they die or are they still alive?

I loved the philosophy of humanity and good vs. evil and what consstitutes a monster and all the similar questions this manga posed, as it wasn't just all about the action and the blood and the deaths, it's more than that.

Shinohara, Amon, Takizawa... Specially Amon, man. I got so attached to these characters, their kindness. Where is Hide? What happened to Kaneki? Emotionally I am dead, physically I survive only to read Tokyo Ghoul re.
1. That fight scene of Amon and Kaneki where "please don't die" is said.
2. Amon reminiscing all he has lost.
3. Hide saying "I knew this all along", being the amazing friend he is.
4. Juuzou's flashbacks of Shinohara being the father figure he never had, and feeling emotions for the first time in a while. Screaming out "I hope we can have drinks one day too"
5. Was that kindness I saw in Arima's eyes while he fought Kaneki? He is literally the Levi Ackerman of Tokyo Ghoul.
6. The scene where Kaneki is on the verge of death and goes and hugs his older self. He suffered for so long in dire need of rest.
7. SEN THE WRITER IS YOSHIMURA'S CHILD ETO?! THE OWL?!
8. Akira crying for Amon and Takizawa
9. Juuzou blaming himself for Shinohara's death, poor baby.
10. His wife asking him to sleep well, I choked up there.
11. IS THAT KANEKI AS INVESTIGATOR SASAKI?! APPOINTED BY ARIMA?! WHAT HAPPENED?!
