this is an experience of death and sickness yet also one of love and light. bravely recounting some of his final days of life and sight in diary form, guibert offers one of the first perspectives of what living with aids was like during the height of its crisis. written in easily digestible fragments (partly because of his failing vision) guiberts writing creates a sense of intimacy and emotional closeness resulting in a super quick read.

"Last wishes: incinerated, as soon as possible. No religious ceremony, no gathering of friends and family at the moment of cremation, no music. Throw away the ashes in the first garbage can."

For ROMLANG 498: Personal diary entries from Guibert in the hospital; sort of a sequel to "The Compassion Protocol"
