Uber wealthy socialite and philanthropist Katrina is hands on at her dog rescue shelter, Canine Haven. While returning a found puppy to its owner, a private detective, Katrina finds a murdered body. Later, while stopping by the shelter for puppy chow for the puppy she is now fostering, Katrina finds her manager murdered and a man wielding a knife and wearing a ski mask demanding to know where 'it' is. Before he has a chance to murder Kat, someone arrives at the shelter and the murderer flees into the night but not before Kat has seen his face.

Dayne is an FBI Agent, whose mentor was the murdered PI who is also an ex-FBI agent. Partnering in the murder investigation, and believing that not only are the 2 murders connected but that Kat is in danger, Dayne and his tracking K-9 Remy are assigned to protecting Kat 24/7 while investigating the murders and trapping a murderer.

Can love be far behind?! Of course not. Both have similar issues to get past thought before there can be any happy ever after. This was quite enjoyable to read, with a romance that I just really wanted to reach its happy ever after. Plus it has not one but 2 great dogs! The scenes with Remy interacting with the puppy Angus are hilarious.

Hot FBI Agent, socialite philanthropist, and cuteness personified doggies! This just hit all my buttons. This triggers all the feels and I defy you not to tear up in places.

Dayne & his K-9 partner are a dynamite team! Katrina could have been a 2D, wealthy socialite with no personality. But not in this series! Kat is strong, independent with a big dollop of naive. She is as shy as she is generous. I've always believed money brings its own problems and Kat? Well, she has more money than Midas.

These two leads worked fantastically together, the chemistry leaped off the page. Kat's little canine rescue pup is just adorable. I loved sorting through all the intricate threads of the story.

I cannot resist to a book with a cat/dog on the cover and I usually love them. This one was no exception.
It's an excellent mix of action, mystery and romance and it kept me hooked till the end.
I look forward to reading other books by this author.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

This was a new to me author in the romantic suspense genre. I liked that the author had experience in law enforcement which made a lot of the action seem more believable. Overall the book was enjoyable and a quick read, if not a bit light on depth of character or plot. Would recommend to anyone that wants a fun and excited romantic suspense.
