This was a thoroughly entertaining read. I find that I'm really loving the angel genre. It isn't completely overdone line werewolves or vampires so there's still quite a bit of originality and lacks the cliches of the former types of stories.
This one definitely fit the originality bill. Nathaniel and Devlin are guardian angels and best friends, but lately Devlin is being tempted by the pleasures of humanity - mainly girls, which leaves him vulnerable to Lucifer's persuasions. When he neglects his duties, Nathaniel is ordered to take on a new ward, effectively ending the friendship between the two angels. Only, this is no ordinary ward.
After watching over her for eighteen years, Nathaniel is faced with what he feared all along. Devlin is back and Lucifer wants his wants the girl's soul. Nathaniel will do anything to protect her, but there are things he must deal with before the consequences catch up to him, forcing him to leave her on her own.
Talk about your forbidden love. The conflict inside of Nathaniel is so real that I could feel his turbulent emotions. I was rooting for him so hard by the end and truly felt for him. This is definitely a page turner. I had trouble putting it down. I was thankful that there wasn't a ton of description or info dumps because it kept the story moving along and I never once felt the need to skim. That's saying a lot for me. I can't wait to read the rest of the story.
