”I already crave you, even though I know you’re keeping things from me. You think an ill-shot arrow will be the thing to stop me?”

So. That ending has me speechless. Utterly and completely lost for words. I’m sitting here and I knew going in that the ending had a cliffhanger but like… I didn’t expect that ending.

I think that this being dual-POV really drove it home for me. The fact that we keep seeing Dacre’s thoughts and they align so damn close to reality but still just a liiiittle bit off was astounding. I would have loved for there for be a bit more world building and the fantasy elements to be more prominent but that clearly didn’t detract from my rating because I’m still sitting here gaping like a damn fish trying not scream. Once I was finally able to sit down and read this book I DEVOURED it.

The banter was so good. It was fast paced once we got more lay of the plot. And the spice was spicing.

Once I can download book 2 it’s over for my social life.

Okay. I have many issues with this book, but I can’t deny that I devoured it. Their chemistry and the spice was incredible, I felt like I was there and it just made so much sense with their characters. I think this is the kind of book where i love-hate the mmc, if i met him in real life i would be absolutely grossed out, but for book material it is perfect. I suspected part of the ending but the way it was done literally physically hurt me. I think the writing is very good. The magic system could use improvements. If you crave fantasy maybe not the best book, but if you want the epitomy of love-hate and doubting your morals enjoyable short read with elements of fantasy, I 100% recommend. It is way too short and I will start the 2nd (that is even shorter???) asap, it’s been a while since i was this affected by a fictional character 😅

Objectively, this is probably around 3.5. Subjectively it made me feel feral, so 4.5.

I feel as though all feminism left the author’s body while writing this story.

I was really excited to read this book, cause I love me a lil romatasy, but the story lacked plot, action, and even an actual love story in my opinion. The beginning was a bit of a tease cause it amped up the story to seem like it was going to be really good, but by the end, it simply sucked major butt.

I felt like the author took all the romantasy tropes and fit them into this book rather than focusing on a unique plotline and an actual STORY. Seriously, we had: Enemies to lovers, “who did this to you”, jealousy, one bed, and of course, a FMC constantly being called small, weak, and frail training to be a warrior for some goddamned reason????

The two main characters made no sense together and they lacked a lot of depth. They fell in lust, not love. The possessiveness of the MMC was really unappealing and I really didn’t like the way he treated her like she was literally an object. I also didn’t like the way she was totally happy to be treated that way by him. Neither of them really had any personality that was redeemable in my opinion. Their entire storyline was about smut and possession and I just don’t jive well with that.

This book was a prime example of an author sacrificing their own plot lines for more and more smut - which, by the end, was actually getting boring and repetitive.

I understand how this book could be somebody’s cup of tea, but it sure as hell wasn’t mine.

As you may be able to tell, I was not a fan. Dunno if I’ll read the next one. I might, just cause it’s quite small and I wanna reach my reading goal for the year lol

I loved this book! Exactly what I was looking for in a romantasy. It has all of my favorite tropes including "who did this to you", possessive male interest, only one bed

Reads like YA. Worldbuilding, characters and plot are all underdeveloped.
