I enjoyed exploring the different layers of the story and loved the allegory of the "surface" layer. Unfortunately I found the ultimate plot resolution something of an anticlimax, but that might be a matter of personal taste. In the interests of avoiding spoilers, I won't say more than that.

I enjoyed the story in the margins, the mystery, and the additions/feeling like I was a part of the characters world, but the underlying story (S's story) was a little too dark for me. It was a really odd story! I didn't fully understand the mystic connections, and I'm not a huge fan of dark stories.

This is a very fun interactive read (there’s props within the pages), but the styling with the writing in the margins can be distracting or hard to read. It’s two stories in one and very interesting, especially the developing relationship between the two scholar characters making notes in the margins.

This book was... SO GOOD...but also so long. You're essentially buying a book to read three times over the course of reading it once. The format is given in the form of a basal book "the ship of theseus" which you read first. It's quite good and well written, while giving some personal reflection. You then go back to the beginning and get into the "S." part of the book. You read the notes in the margins to get a hold on the two main characters. I definitely recommend, but you need time to read this.

This book is a read that requires you to think. The structure and format of it is so unique and the stories inside are fantastic. it engaged me in a way that I can't say a book has in a long time.
All of the stories within open ended and the lack of defined closure is a result of the medium the book uses but also the main thing keeping it from being a perfect read.

A fantastic read, with more than one story line to keep track of. While difficult to follow at times and occasionally confusing the way this book was written makes you feel like you are intruding on a very private and intimate conversation. You are given a secret look into the lives of Eric and Jen while simultaneously leaving you wanting for more. Absolutely loved it!

This book absolutely mesmerized me. It is a very slow read, and often takes time to really dig in to understand what it happening, but overall the two characters in the margins have a beautiful story, and the book they are writing in also gives important perspectives on life that I really appreciated. I loved the way this was set up, and while I didn’t always follow the discussions happening in the margins, this book made me feel like I was part of something important, and that’s why I gave it such a high rating!
