I need to reread this book.

I liked the story and thought it was interesting, however I caught myself multiple times just thinking of other things while reading the book because of the way it is written and some boring paragraphs.

In the end I think I didn’t get a grasp of a lot of the details of the story, hence the need of rereading.

Stendhal, consistently efficient and witty in his storytelling, if Henry James and others had only learned from him.

“— Querido Octávio, esse gosto singular é o efeito da tua paixão desmedida pelas ciências; os teus estudos fazem-me tremer de receio;
