Absolutely gorgeous illustrations - story makes a fun addition but stay for the illustrations.

The illustrations in this book are gorgeous, but there’s no real story. It’s like the author had done a whole lot of fabulous pictures of animals in a mansion doing various interesting things, and thought he’d make it into a book. And really, that’s pretty much the extent of it. No plot.

Beautiful artwork, that's the main reason I picked this one up. The story is charming but simple.

Very imaginative coloring book with a plethora of animals settling in a run-down Victorian mansion. There's even a little story to read!

"Welcome to The Ink House. A mysterious mansion built long ago in the days when people used gallons of ink to write love letters, poems and elaborate shopping lists." - Rory Dobner, The Ink House
The Ink House is such a beautiful book. I loved Dobner’s gorgeously detailed and whimsical black and white illustrations, however, I think a few touches of colour would have made the illustrations even more striking and memorable.
Unfortunately, I struggled with the story. There wasn’t much of a plot and didn’t really get the point of the story, as it mostly consisted of introducing character after character and not much more. Despite my issues with the book, I look forward to seeing what Dobner does next.
