Jesse's parents are the best faerie hunters in New York. She is just living a normal life. Then one-night parents don't come home from the job and just disappear. She is determined to find them and enter the world of bounty hunters. Overcoming disbelief and having to carve her own path.

There is something more at play than she realizes at first. Along the way, she encounters many faes, and makes enemies, but also friends. There is romance, but it's not the main plot.

It's very well written, the story is intense and you just have to keep on reading. My favourite part of the story is the brother-sister relationship. She is very protective and caring towards her younger brother (he is fae and adopted).

It's a good start to a series and I'm excited to read more. :)

This was a really fun read! It had all the hallmarks of a good book - strong writing, a likable, smart, but flawed MC, an interesting plot, and above all? Excellent world building right off the bat. I'm not saying that there isn't more that I want to explore - there definitely is! But I do feel like I have a good understanding of at least Jesse's human/earth side of things, even if Faerie is more of a mystery. Thoughts on the romance front:
SpoilerI can't say I love Lukas after that ending. I can't really see myself forgiving him, either. Faris seemed nice!
I really like Violet! 4 stars.

I don’t know how I found this book, but I love a mix of urban kick-ass fantasy, Fae, and romance...plus great dialogue, politics, twists, and quirky characters. I want it all.

Jesse James is a 4-eyed young adult accepted to Ivy league colleges without an Ivy league income. Her parents are bounty hunters, and it doesn’t matter that they are the best. Bounty Hunters are the second tier assignments handed down from the paranormal association that cherry-picks the best (easy ones?). When her parents disappear, Jesse is stuck with a younger brother, who is an adopted sprite, and a best friend about to visit China. She realizes that she has the files, equipment, and book knowledge to attempt bounty hunting until she can find her parents and earn enough for college. Her parents gave her self-defence training, so why not?

Unfortunately for her, her first night out she and Violet (her bestie) end up in a bar fight, and she meets Lukas, the terror of the club. Sort of. He and his fighting team are...whups, no spoilers for you....obvious to guess as you read. But the story has enough twists and occasional laughs to surprise and entertain any above average reader.

What I really like is the depiction of the Fae. Jesse wants to become a lawyer for the lower fae, and I am rooting for that later. However, the Unseelie and Seelie fae she meets are just as powerful and mysterious as I want, and they are grown up for the modern age. LOVE it. I also love Lukas and his team.

I have guesses about who is twisting things behind the scenes, but I cannot write anything without spoilers. But think of the Selkie she saves, the goblin who she charms with plastic gemstones...I love them. Where is book 2????

I enjoyed this. I was sucked into the world and characters. The main character is strong, smart, and loving. A powerful combination. I loved how she stood up for herself and others. I’m looking forward to reading more.

I am usually a romance reader but occasionally read other books. I fell in love with the book as soon as I started reading it. I could guess a few of the things that were going to happen. However others things took me completely by surprise. I love Jesse and her personality so much. I cannot wait to finish the series and find out what happens.
