This was one of the first romance books I ever read - before I knew what that was. I read Princess Diaries while I was a teenager and at the time there were really cheap Spanish editions of Meg's romance books, including this one. So I read Queen of Babble, and thought that the main character was completely unrelatable (who thinks about clothes that much?) and the situation completely ridiculous.
So less than a week ago I saw myself in the middle of leaving the UK after a disaster and contemplating the idea of taking the Chunnel and going to Paris for a while - and this book came to mind, only because of the irony of me going through something similar to what the protagonist does at the beginning of the book. It does not mean that I liked the book any more than I did then - in fact I can actually see all of its flaws in glorious original language now. So, yeah, bit of a low point for Meg Cabot, but you can't always expect a Princess Diaries out of everything she writes.

Cute quick read about a quirky girl who doesn't know when to shut her trap!
The nice thing about Meg Cabot's prose is that it always fits the character. So like the character this prose was a little wandering, like the inside of your head when your thoughts jump from Coffee to 1/4 beagle, 3/4 pug dogs. A sweet romance story about the wrong love and eventually finding the right one.

I read this book because growing up, I loved Meg Cabot's books. This book wasn't my favorite, mainly because of Lizzie, the main character, she just annoyed me. I did read it all the way through and gave it a chance. The beginning was enjoyable but toward the middle, I couldn't wait to be done. I just didn't like it as much as I love her other novels. However, don't let me sway you, please read it and form your own opinion. I'd love to hear what you think!
I wish I could give this book 4.5 stars. There are three parts and I was only annoyed with little snippets in part one. I felt like meg Cabot was trying to hard to be funny, but by the end of the book I was either used to the main character's personality/humor or she actually started to be funny. Either way, I couldn't put the book down and I liked it a lot. I will definitely be continuing the series!
This book was fluffy and cute. Yes, the plot was thin and yes, the characters were underdeveloped, but somehow, it was still satisfying. There is a certain annoying charm to the main character (though she uses too many exclamation points). Sometimes, you just need a fluffy book to read that is totally mindless and entertaining, and this book fits the bill.
Not for me - the girl was so annoying and the 'bad guy' characters were just too over the top.
This was a wonderful book. Great for older girls, such as in Univ. Meg Cabot is a great writer. It is a good pick-me-up book.
Read about 15 pages and couldn't take it anymore. The main character is supposed to be a chatterbox, but the writing is like you are in her mind and it's stream-of-consciousness prattle and I was about to lose it when it occurred to me....put the book down. Walk away.
In a word...ick.

I loved this classic chick lit book! Lizzie was a woman to root for who had a big American mouth (which I loved having one myself haha) and got her foot caught in her mouth on more than one occasion. I loved some of her American type behavior, like dying for a diet coke (I loathe soda but it was a very American obsession to have). Her British boyfriend didn't turn out well for her at all and her adventures from England to France were fun/entertaining to read. This was a lighthearted, cute read from start to finish. I am excited to read the sequel to this book.
