I was a bit disappointed in that you found out who the painting thief's were just after half way and then the book took a different direction about Luc's dad and friendly relationship between K Burke and Luc. it is still a great read though.

I like these main characters, however the mystery and supporting characters weren’t very good, they all fell flat for me

I love the concept and I even love the idea that James Patterson is using his fame to help other authors. I like the Moncrief stories. The characters are real and funny and engaging. I can say that I would definitely be willing to read anything Richard DiLallo writes- in this format or any other.
Great job!

The second book in the Detective Luc Moncrief series. Luc is a fun character, he is rich, but loves helping people.... as long as it is by his rules. Luc is not a big fan of NYPD procedure which gets on his partner's nerves. Kate is a good balance to Luc as in many buddy cop material they are opposites. The case is a bit rushed and didn't hold too much of my attention. The ending was spent on a personal matter of Lucs. Luc and Kate's relationship is as friends, but they push that awkward 'will they or won't they' vibe. The bad guys and side characters are not that notable.

Warnings: Gun violence. The murder was mild, nothing shocking.
