"“The Vampire from Hell” is a great idea, one I thought unique from my perspective. I don’t generally choose vampire fiction as a genre to read personally, but Amy Larkin’s idea drew me in...."

If I could give this book 0 stars, I would. It was only a few chapters, which normally would bother me since I was expecting a full book, but I was actually just glad that it was over. The writing is extremely juvenile and almost feels like bad fan fiction - the dialogue is so unbelievable and childish, and it's overall a chore to read because it's so bad.

Rating: 1-1/2.

Warning: This novella is extremely graphic. The author labels it as "PG-13," but that is a gross misrepresentation.

This was one of the first freebies I downloaded on my Nook and then I never really got around to reading it. But recently, I have been making a concerted effort to read some of the books I have acquired, so they are not taking up wasted space on my ereader.

I was a bit put off by the fact that the author labels this as rated PG-13 but there was a large amount of fairly graphic sexual content. While I am not necessarily opposed to reading "adult themed" books, I wish that would have been more clearly indicated in the description so I would have had clearer expectations.

The concept of the story in and of itself was interesting. Demons, Satan, angels, God and Jesus, plus vampires. Because, really G and J? And the archangel Michael? Like we couldn't figure out what G and J stood for?

But the book was very poorly edited and I found that incredibly distracting. I also, like I said, had not expected the adult content.

The story line itself was interesting enough to have a little bit of potential, but it really was not executed well and would have benefited from having had a second pair of eyes review the material before she hit the publish button on Smashwords.

At first, I wasn't sure I was going to like this, but once I got used to the cadence of the author's style, I fell right into the story. Am looking forward to seeing what happens next...
