Master of Ghouls is book two in the SPECTR series by Jordan L. Hawk and the author is keeping the intensity and overall fabulousness going.

Caleb/Gray and John are back in an interesting new twist. It seems John's boss with SPECTR has now hired Caleb/Gray as an independent contractor. This means they're working with John and his team to track down and eliminate demons. Of course this is all under the assumption that a.) Caleb can prevent Gray from harming any humans and b.) once Gray has been exorcised, Caleb can return to his life. It seems, however, that Gray is the only one who understands the true nature of the relationship with Caleb.

In this book they are hunting someone who is raising ghouls and putting them into humans in order to use them for his own machinations. In the midst of this Gray is trying to understand mortal behavior and that is always good for a laugh. And, John and Caleb are struggling through a possible relationship? It's another great book with suspense, mystery action and hotness with our MC's. Once again I'm hanging on the edge waiting for the next installment.

I'm still not sure how much I love this series? It's very well written, the characters are fun, the stories are good, but it's just missing something for me, I'm just not sure what. I'll keep reading though, because they are quick reads, which is about my speed these days.

I had hoped for a bit more romantic development after the first book, but this one was another slow burn along with the paranormal action and sus SPECTR stuff. My main gripe with this book is that I felt that I didn't get to know the character's thoughts and reflections on a lot of the stuff that was going on – like what Caleb thought about John calling him babe so often, or how John felt about Caleb being "offered" the contractor role at SPECTR, and his colleagues' attitudes towards Caleb. This made it harder for me to connect to the characters and their relationship, since I'm not getting much insight and development. The book was an okay, fairly short read, but I don't think it's gotten me hooked enough to continue the series.

I enjoyed the continuation of the series. Again the sex was passionate and hot. The ending caught me off guard as I felt it came too soon. Hawk set up a nice set of questions to be answered in future books. I will continue to read the books and see where they go. Seems like a great series so far, I would recommend to those who like male male romance and paranormal investigation stories.

Gray is still my favorite. This was brilliant, just as exciting as the first one. I’m looking forward to seeing how it continues!

Holy moley! What a ride. Caleb is still possessed by Gray, the ancient ghoul hunter. As his lover John is looking for a way to rid the ghoul hunter from him, Caleb is pressed into being a consultant for SPECTR. Now registered with them, Caleb has no choice but to help his friend and lover. And what a case it was. I couldn't read this story fast enough. It was intense and scary.

Some startling information was revealed that foreshadows things to come. Also, I know Caleb is anxious to get Gray out of his body, but I can't help to hope that doesn't happen. The ancient ghoul hunter has grown on me. I love how he is learning to understand what it's like to have a living body and the morals that govern Caleb.

The other books in the series should prove interesting.
