Another new author whose story I am enjoying immensely. I wasn't sure what to expect because the main character was kind of dead. What kind of romance would thrive under such a situation?

This turned out to be a funny supernatural romance that was very well done.

The concept was different from the norm and I really enjoyed it. It was an age-gap romance that wasn't my usual fare and while I don't normally choose to read second-chance romances, this was an especially charming story. I also liked the supporting cast in this story, they felt like real people who I would love to know.

This was such a fun book! It felt a bit like the Charley Davidson series by darynda Jones, sure with the plot, but also just the voice, the way Wes talks and narrates. It’s not quite grumpy/sunshine, more grumpy/adhd. It just felt like a fun ride, I kept wanting to highlight things, but for the most part it wasn’t specific lines but the energy and tone. Also, the audiobook narrator did an amazing job, it really added to the experience

Burke adds some unique elements to the usual UF/PNR setup. I enjoyed the introduction to the characters and the world, but the ending did feel a bit thrown together without much build-up. There was no way a reader could've figured out the "mystery" on their own. Overall though, Burke has written a compelling set of characters, and I'm happy to read the rest of the series and any spin-off series.

It's very rare that I don't like any of the MCs but it obviously didn't disturb me that much as I still wanted to continue with the book. MC1 was a selfish brat and MC2 a grumpy arse. Not the whole time though, and MC2 did sort of redeem himself towards the end. Their shared backstory was sad, being gay in the 80's wasn't a cakewalk.

Wes' ghostly abilities were pretty cool and he and his witchy sidekick made a loving and loyal team.

The murder mystery felt a bit all over the place but all in all it was a good book and I want to know how the series continues.

Greg Boudreaux does a great job even though female characters aren't his strongest suit.

👻👻👻 3.5 ghosts out of five.
(3.5 = I enjoyed it well enough.)
