I was enraptured by the first chapter. I loved the use of language throughout the book. I loved living in a world of monsters who were just as good as nature, humans as toys, and gods as monsters.

I felt Stheno's character dragged in the beginning which felt intentional and in line with the themes, but I had hoped for more development post Medusa. Those chapters seemed to feel almost like an exposition that never reached it's development, which was disappointing after reaching such heights before.
I found myself not able to stomach the commitment to rape culture from Eurayle and I know this was the point at the start, but I did not think the author moved that character to talk about the rape that occured. It was talked around, but never through.  This made it hard to continue reading. Additionally, I felt that Stheno struggled to be developed outside of her sisters and this is in spite of the declaration at the end of the book. In this way, the retelling limited the places I felt the story to go.
Overall, I enjoyed the book and revisiting greek mythology in a post Roe world.

There were pockets of passages that were great to read, but I was bored for the most part, which was disappointing because there’s a lot of good storytelling to be had in any mythological canons.
