I love Neil Gaiman. I have loved him since I was 15. If you've never read any of his stuff before, this book is (in my opinion) not the best book to start with. There are some choice cuts, but if I weren't a completist I might not have finished it. Still love you, Neil.

Did not love all of the shorts, but that’s the point. You find what style of story you like by him and enter the world. He is one of my favorite authors and this is a beautiful example as to why.

It is fairly rare for me to abandon a book unfinished, but I struggled with this one. It has many stories, ordered by when they were written. You could clearly see his writing get better as he went along, but at 40% through it was just not worth continuing. I jumped to the last story in the book, hoping it would be better - it was not. I know he is popular in books, TV and movies, but I did not enjoy his writing. The stories were very creative, but mostly did not make sense. Not recommended.

An amazing book! A collection of magical stories, and it includes some of my favorite Neil tales!

After reading the Vulture article about this man's rape and assault of multiple women, I want nothing to do with his work.

This is an extensive collection of short stories (with the occasional excerpt from one of Gaiman's novels) and I enjoyed it so much. I think Click Clack Rattlebag was my favorite, though I also really enjoyed the stories with Shadow....and can't wait to start American Gods to formally be introduced to his character. If you are a long term Gaiman fan, this is a must read.... or if you are just starting to dip your toes in Gaiman's vast amount of written works, this is a great starting point.
