A succinct book giving some ideas for implementing more Christ-centered Christmas traditions. I'm looking forward to using some with my family next Christmas!

A beautiful book with great ideas to help focus more on the Savior!

I should have been genetically predisposed to absolutely love this. It's a book of Christmas traditions, centering on the figures in a nativity set. Perfect for an LDS woman who is nuts about Christmas traditions and has about 40ish nativity sets on display in her house--NOW. (there will be more after Thanksgiving). And I did like the sweet book, but it just didn't go deep enough, I suppose, to have been a life-altering kind of thing. I find it puzzling that any Christian woman could be married several years before getting a first nativity set in her family. (My grandparents gave me my first one my very first Christmas, when I was all of a month old--and I've never been without one since.) This really won't replace any of the traditions we've built up-we might add a bit into one or two. But still, a nice, sweet, very quick read.

I was excited to review this book with the holiday season upon us. Even more so, to take the time to reflect on and read a lovely book centered on Christ and Christmas. I really appreciated the author's introduction and what inspired her to write this book. I loved how each chapter started with a verse of scripture, and ended with a summary of each tradition with suggestions how to incorporate it in your life. As well as a sweet paragraph describing the tradition. The author's heart-felt stories and ideas make this book all the more enjoyable. I can't wait to start some of these and add to our own family Christmas traditions.

I have had this for a long as a friend had recommended it as a way to be more deliberate about Christmas traditions. It's actually a suggested collection of traditions (per the title) as opposed to an open ended discussion of how to adapt your own traditions. I'm not really looking for a different set of traditions at this point, but I might adapt some of them. This would be a great read for a Christian newlywed couple as they are deciding their traditions.

I wish I'd had this before Thanksgiving. It's designed to give the reader seven topics (nativity figures) to focus on over seven days, or seven weeks. I'd love to do this for family night seven weeks prior to Christmas. My favorite of the seven was Joseph, which includes a touching description from Jeffrey R. Holland of what the eve of Christ's birth might have been like. Nice, simple book from the wonderful Emily Freeman.

Freeman’s suggestions for Christ-centered traditions surrounding Christmas are pretty easily executed and fairly universal in their nature, which sets them apart from some of the traditions suggested in other books of hers that I’ve read. Even the ones that are less universal are easily adapted and simplified for individual families. Definitely want to give this a shot in the future.

It wasn't the perfect Christmas book, but it came pretty close! The ideas presented in this book are meaningful and special and I could definitely see myself doing something like this. Emily Freeman got me in the mood for Christmas – the right Christmas spirit!
