Deeply moving marriage in crisis. Loved this follow up to Lord Ian and can’t believe it took this long for me to get to it! CW: miscarriage and pregnancy loss are intense themes along with substance abuse

Didn't love them as much as ian and Beth but they came pretty close. Pretty sure I'm bingeing at least the first 4 books in the series.

I really liked the first three quarters. Felt a bit ridiculous near the end. But the pains of the relationship never seemed forced. It was also nice to see Ian and Beth post marriage, and Ian spouting truths to Mac.

I enjoyed the book. The reason behind Isabella left Nac was justifiable and three & half year separation was necessary, cause it was Mac salvation time. To win back Isabella's Trust Mac tried damn hard and the journey was worth it.

I liked these brothers bond again.

We got a glimpse of Cameron's story which was next in the series. Also, I am looking forward to seeing the father-son bond between Cameron and Daniel. Overall a Good Read.

3.5 stars.

Lovely characters, though their motivations confused me at times and seemed written in just to add conflict to the plot. Isabella and Mac run around each other a lot, and for some readers I could see them growing weary of the denial.

I was engaged throughout the whole book but there were too many plot threads. I would have preferred zeroing in on the first one introduced, about someone forging Mac's paintings—it hooked me in but then the mystery languished. I know this is quite a long series, so many characters were introduced who will one day have their own book (I assume) but I wish that hadn't been rushed in at the end.

The final climax raised the stakes in a way that was out of line with the rest of the book—a sudden case of life-or-death was tonally off. Nonetheless I look forward to reading more books in this series, and read the synopses of its sequels so I could see whose story comes next!

Mac and Isabella get back together, while dealing with someone who is forging Mac's paintings.

Maybe a 3.5 since there are Scottish men in kilts.
