It just didn't grab me like the first two books. I was originally super interested in learning about the Rycke, but the book lost my interest as it progressed. The Rycke species felt like this huge build up into a species that felt kind of wishy-washy. The species just... didn't seem to make a whole lot of sense, not like others we have been introduced too.

I did like that we got to see how non-military lived in the wastes, but Ghost/Gage just wasn't my favorite character. His story didn't interest me at all. Moth, Rig, Lilac. THOSE characters have depth and are intriguing.

Sooooo emo. I loved Ghost and Aury my emo kings.

I also loved how monsterous Aury can turn into. Goblin sharks are ewwww. Seeing ghost work through that - like seeing him work through how he can still love someone who turns into that - was masterful writing.

it really is important to read this series from the beginning, no skips or reading out of order, because the moment i first read the small mention about the rycke, my interest was peaked and then there was a little more info about this monster provided in the second book and then i read this one and aury was just everything i was expecting but then also not. his love story with gage was just…absolutely incredible, im in shock

Quickly becoming one of my favourite series!

I loved the two mains in this story, and I’m telling you, I didn’t think any couple could surpass my love for Danny & Wyn. Gage (human) & Aury (the Ryke) are the sweetest little duo. Throw in some pet chickens and it’s solidified!!

While Aury is similar to Wyn in that they’re both “big bad monsters” that most fear, Wyn has that little bit of a snarky edge while Aury is one of the gentlest, shy beasties we’ve come to meet. We also got some more interactions with the caged Aytorin and Moth, lining up the next two books.

The world Lily had created here is unique and enthralling - I love how they all weave together and can’t wait to continue.
