Některé vedlejší pasáže mě nezaujaly a nebavily. Bohužel díky této nevyváženosti, se kniha stává spíše průměrným, i když celkově poměrně příjemně oddechovým čtením, neuškodilo by jí, trochu proškrtat, aby nabrala spád. Následné hodnocení by pak bylo rozhodně vyšší. V tomto případě skutečně platí, že někdy méně, znamená více.

2.5* as in "it was okay"

Filled with the "middle-aged woman gets cheated on by her husband with a much younger, 20-something year old girl" book tropes and stereotypes, so if that's what you like - go for it. Otherwise, maybe rather check out other works of the author, as I hear they're thrillers, which is also more up my valley :)

Easy to read since it's written in an e-mail format, but also incredibly boring, there's no story to it. I found very little of it funny, though I expected to get more laughs out of it, considering everyone mentions how humorous it is. It's definitely chick lit, which isn't really my cup of tea, but I wanted to give it a try anyway and see if it surprises me (clearly it didn't).

Instead of rooting for Coco to get her life together, I've found myself indifferent to her fate which most likely wasn't the intention of the book.

This was a fun book to read. The story is revealed through emails written by the main character. There are several lol moments, but the book is also filled with touching and sometimes frustrating moments. This is a light and fast read.

3.5 Well, I needed a break from classics, and I love epistolary novels (or e-mail novels in modern literature), so I picked this up for some light entertainment. I was surprised how characters were well developed and the family dynamics in a bad family situation jumps from tragic to comic and back. The book seemed promising and the style is easy to read. It had some interesting insights into entertainment and publishing world, I thought it would be my new surprising favorite. But then it turned to absurd, soapy mess, like a draft of the novel before a harsh, but needed editing. So, the last third of the book was just for me to go through and finish the novel. It was what I expected, light and entertaining, but it could have been so much more, it had material enough and the characters (Ethel and Rosencratz especially) were there to support a good mix of humor and tragedy, but it turned into a totally different book in the end, purposefully absurd and disconnected from its story. Still, I'm glad I've read it.
