Woow.

Leider keine Empfehlung.

Mindless fun -- not so great on the character development. I think I'm more intrigued by the author's self-publishing story behind this series of books than I am in the books themselves. Still worth reading if you're looking for a zombie apocalyptic fix.

It was a decent book. Definitely a little different story line than I'm used to when it comes to zombies but overall it was a good book. I just wish it would have progressed a little faster.

A Haunting and Thought-Provoking Take on Post-Apocalyptic Survival
David Moody's Autumn offers a fresh take on the post-apocalyptic genre, focusing on the psychological toll of survival rather than traditional zombie action. Moody masterfully creates an eerie atmosphere, emphasizing the fragility of human resilience in a world turned upside down. The character-driven narrative and unique portrayal of zombies—uncanny and unpredictable rather than relentlessly aggressive—set it apart from typical stories in the genre. While the slow pace effectively builds tension, it might feel drawn out for readers expecting immediate action. Despite this, Autumn is a haunting and thought-provoking read, perfect for those who appreciate atmospheric, realistic horror.

I think I'm done with David Moody...this is the third book of his that I've read, and I haven't really enjoyed any of them. Autumn is cliche after cliche, and doesn't add anything new.
Plus, the main character is an annoying dick.

The book suffers from boring dialogue, stilted prose, and shallow characters. I finished the book, but I struggled to do so. If you're into the zombie genre, you'd be better served by World War Z, Day By Day Armageddon, The Walking Dead, and Patient Zero.

I believe this is the first in a series and the reason I sought it out and read it is I like to read source novels of films from time to time and I saw the Canadian version of 'Autumn' many years ago. It was different enough to warrant searching out the book.
Set in the UK with a very British cast of survivors the story throws in straight in with not to much lead up dreary setting up and this is good, so like any good story you are hooked from the beginning.
Away we go and the author makes sure that the effects of loved-ones and nearly everyone you know dying are felt, unlike so many of these other types of stories where after about a day everyone's okay and onto the next adventure. So a bit of thought has gone into it.
The tale is simple and linear and we are not given 'pat' explanations and that is good and overall I enjoyed my dip in devastated Britain.
The only problem I had was the three main characters, I know they are supposed to be traumatised and all the other survivors we meet but they are all a-holes, every one of them and I did not care if they lived or died.
Plus if you have ever ridden a motorbike you know those parts of the story are errrr...unlikely.
But overall a good read, I'm not sure I'll be going back though.
