This book was selected by an interfaith reading group. But I find this topic bland. I’m not curious about anything covered in the text, and I can’t recall material from one reading session to another. My library borrow expires today, and nothing the author has opined seems to warrant further thought or conversation, so I will leave this on the shelf.

For someone who knew very little about specific religious history, this book was both interesting and enlightening. Considering the current state of the world, I think its a good introductory read.

I've always wanted to read Bruce Feiler, so I grabbed this promo from the breakroom at Borders when I saw it. It was a good two years before I picked it up. I read the prologue, but then got wrapped up in the TAMALE book club and never went back to it.

I've been wanting to read this one for years after someone I really look up to recommended it. It was interesting and a perfect tie in to my study of the Old Testament this year. I appreciated some of the insights - lots to think about.

Bruce Feiler looks at Abraham as one character who is important to Jews, Christians and Muslims. Could we come to together through our mutual connection to Abraham and just get along. Feiler concludes that we could.

. . . very interesting how each of the 3 major religions has co-opted Abraham to lend credence to its claim that it's the "correct" religion.

An interesting look at how the character of Abraham has been transformed through time and by all the major monotheist faith traditions.
