Perhaps reading such intense story might not have been the best thing when I’ve been experiencing more anxiety than usual. Still. I read this for the first time over 20 years ago, remembered it vividly, and couldn’t help re-visiting.

First of all, this is not the best of Koontz. The narrative is a bit clunky and there is too much repetition. Having said this, it has a redeeming factor - it grabs the hell out of you! Somehow, I feel the author wanted to try his hand at a type of story-telling that would focus entirely on intense moments/scenes to the detriment of other aspects. Well, he certainly did that. The first time I read it, my heart rate stayed up most of the time, going from one horror to the next, not exactly enjoying it, but being unable to stop. This time, it was a different experience since I knew what would happen, and although it was as compelling and thrilling, it also made the weaker points more visible. Nevertheless, a pretty impressive exercise, if you ask me!

a lot of his books that I’ve read take a bit to get the ball rolling, but this one jumps right in. this is a serious thriller, it kept me on edge for nearly the whole read. some parts may drag a bit but I was never bored with this one. 4⭐️

"Untouched and alive." I wish I could say the same. This will be first and last Koontz for me. The book should have been at least 100 pages shorter. Overly descriptive passages, unnecessary flashbacks and the constant reiterations made me want to go mad. At its core, the story is solid but everything about it is overwrought. And even as a male. myself, I can tell Dean Koontz knows nothing about writing from a woman's perspective, lol. Never again.

By far the best Dean Koontz book I've read. I usually have a couple of negatives about the author, since his writing style could be "dry" to say the least. Also, is pacing is usually off. Not with this one, though. Every moment I wanted to see what happened next and the killer was truly insane. I loved it and highly recommend it for anyone who wants a page turner.

"Intensity" is seriously intense. I stayed up really late one night in high school to finish this book and then couldn't sleep the rest of the night. WOW! Probably one of my favorite books because of how vivid and real it all felt to me. I would not recommend this book if you scare easily. For me, I loved the thrill and suspense that this book provided!

This book had me looking over my shoulders for days. If you like a good scare, this book is for you.
